Clay By The Bay is offering new 1-Time Workshops to expand your ceramic making experience. Read Below for descriptions of each class, and select your Type, Date & Time of workshop below!
- Each Workshop is 3 hours, starting at 9 or 10am.
- Due to the expensive materials required, credits will not be accepted
Colorful Clay
This workshop is designed to add some color to the clay process! Students will be led through a demo on proper and safe ways to add mason stains to a white clay base. These techniques are sensitive, but incredibly fun. Your instructor will help you design your perfect palette of clay using our in-house clay bodies, and to explore ways in which to combine and create unique results using your colored clay bodies, including marbling and patterning.
LUSTER
Get that beautiful gold accent on your own pottery pieces! Each participant should have up to 3 glaze fired pieces (yes, this is a THIRD firing) to learn how to add that beautifully luxurious 22 karat gold or silver accent to your pieces!
PLEASE NOTE: The gold takes on whatever finish is underneath it. If your glaze is semi-matte then the gold will be semi-matte. If your glaze is very glossy then your luster will have a mirror finish. Make sure your pieces are fully glaze fired before the workshop.
Color Slip Making
Using a white premade slip base, our instructors will help you craft a custom colored slip to apply to your works in the studio. You'll leave this class with 3 colored slips to integrate into your creative process!
